What we collect when you shop with us, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
When you order, we collect your name, delivery and billing addresses, email address and telephone number, along with the details of what you bought and any ring size or engraving you supplied.
We do not see or store card numbers. Payment details go directly to our payment provider, who is responsible for handling them; we receive only a confirmation and the last four digits.
We also collect ordinary technical data — browser, device, approximate location from your IP address, and which pages you viewed — and whatever you choose to tell us in the contact form or during a consultation.
Where it comes from
Most of it comes from you directly. Some is collected automatically by your browser as you use the site, and some reaches us from the companies that work on our behalf: our payment provider, our carriers, and the independent laboratories that grade our stones.
Why we hold it
To take, make and deliver your order; to arrange insured carriage and clear customs before a parcel travels; to handle resizing, repairs and warranty claims years later; to answer your questions; and to detect fraud.
We send marketing email only if you have asked for it, and every message carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Who we share it with
Only with the companies that need it to do their job for us: our payment provider, our carriers, the grading laboratories, and the services that host this site and send our email. Each is bound to use it only on our instructions.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not trade it for advertising. If you want the current list of who processes your data, ask and we will send it.
Other sites we link to
Certificates open on the laboratory’s own website, and payment may complete on your bank’s. Once you leave this site you are covered by that company’s privacy policy rather than ours.
Children
This shop is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has given us their details, tell us and we will delete them.
Security and how long we keep it
The site runs over encrypted connections, and access to order records is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise.
Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries that never became orders are cleared after two years.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for it in a portable format, object to a particular use, or withdraw consent you gave earlier. Exercising any of these costs nothing and will not affect how you are treated as a customer.
We answer within thirty days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand your data to somebody else.
Complaints and international transfers
If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
We ship worldwide, so your details may be processed in a country other than your own. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards the law provides for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use your information we will say so plainly, rather than rely on you noticing.
Questions about this policy? Write to us through our contact page and a person will answer.
